Surfers Paradise is a city where the daytime beach vibe and family-friendly activities meet the glitz and glamour of night-time entertainment. The city boasts several impressive and unique high-rise buildings, which make up the beautiful Surfer’s Paradise skyline.

There is no shortage of accommodation options in Surfers Paradise, although its popularity with local and international tourists continues to drive up the cost of a stay. Here is a recap of a few great places in Surfers Paradise that won’t be a hit on the wallet.

Islander Backpackers Resort

The Islander Backpackers Resort is a great options for backpackers looking for a cheap and centrally located hostel. The Islander is located in the heart of the Gold Coast near shopping, dining, nightlife, and the beach in Surfers Paradise. The rooms are nothing to write home about, but the real advantage of this hostel is that it shares its facilities with the Islander Resort Hotel, located next door. Those staying in the hostel have access to a tropical outdoor pool, heated spa, steam room, full size tennis court,  BBQ and sun deck area, and a restaurant, bar, & gaming lounge on site. You won’t find facilities like these at any other backpacker hostel in Surfers!

Surfers Paradise Backpackers Resort

Surfers Paradise Backpackers resort is the highest rated hostel in the area and it’s easy to see why. This family-owned backpacker resort has been a fixture in Surfers Paradise since 1986 and offers five, six or seven share dorm rooms with an en-suite washroom, ceiling fans, and multiple power points in each room. The resort offers fantastic facilities like free wi-fi, free laundry facilities, swimming pool, tennis/volleyball court, free use of body boards, a PlayStation 3, free DVDs and videos, and a licensed bar.

During the day you can head to the beach, located just 150m away, while at night you can join others for a Backpackers Big Night Out with free club passes and first drink on the house. The friendly staff is always on hand to answer your questions and assist you in making the most of your time in Surfers Paradise.

Private 1-Bedroom Apartment on Airbnb

For something completely different, why not stay in this lovely Airbnb apartment? For the same price as a night in a hostel, you can enjoy the privacy of our own one-bedroom apartment with a balcony, bath, shower, and separate toilet. Plus, you’ll have access to other amenities within the complex, like the large pool and spa, and BBQ’s area. The apartment gives you access to a common lounge area and a kitchen area shared with the hosts. Whether you choose to interact with the hosts or stick to yourself, is completely up to you!

Despite being rather overpriced and touristy, there are a number of other cheap hotels in Surfers Paradise for those traveling on a budget. The quality does vary, so do some research and read other travelers reviews before you book.
